Post Malone and Swae Lee have cemented themselves in the books with the highest-certified single in RIAA history. The duo’s collaborative track “Sunflower” has been certified 17-times platinum with 2.4 billion streams worldwide.
The song was originally recorded for the soundtrack of the 2018 animated flick Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It’s also included on Malone’s third studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding. In 2020, the song was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards.
“Sunflower” topped the previous record-breaking track, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” remix, which has been certified platinum 16 times.
“Sunflower” first went platinum about four months after its release in March 2019. Since then, it has exponentially accrued listeners, jumping to its current certification from 11-times platinum roughly this time last year.
Malone also boasts another multi-platinum certified song vying for the top spot. His collaboration with Quavo “Congratulations” has been certified 14-times platinum, tying for the fourth spot.
