Louis Vuitton is a brand known for striking collections, and the brand just enlisted Colm Dillane, the founder of KidSuper, to join Louis Vuitton as the first designer to co-design the Fall/Winter 2023 men’s collection post-Virgil Abloh.
The show started with a performance by Motomani singer Rosalia to prepare the audience for the multifaceted presentation. The runway was broken into three different designs to introduce the audience to the themes of growing up and adolescence behind the collection. The beginning of the runway replicated a hospital room, while the next section mimicked a child’s bedroom, and the runway’s final section was decorated as an adolescent’s bedroom. The collection entered into the artistic conversation around coming of age and adolescence. The show explores men’s formative experiences and their inner children from infancy to the age of twenty.
The collection was designed as a collaboration between Colm Dillane and Louis Vuitton’s in-house Prêt-à-Porter Homme team, and design cues from both Dillane and Abloh can be seen in the collection, such as the use of wild and splashy colors. Dilliane’s new style touches of flowing suits and bold patterns were a welcome addition to Abloh’s elements that have been long cemented as part of the Louis Vuitton brand. Oversized suiting matches well with the unique and eclectic designs such as an entire suit made out of notes. This new collection guarantees that Louis Vuitton will continue to thrive in the new year.
