Skrillex Releases First LP in Nine Years

After a nine year hiatus, Skrillex releases the follow up album to his his breakthrough LP, 2014’s Recess.

Skrillex spent the past nine years working on taking his sound to the next level, and it really shows in Quest for Fire. As a listener, you really notice how he has pulled from various genres to build out a layered, psychedelic blend of of different sounds.

However, it hasn't been a total dry spell for the past decade. Fans got a sneak peak at the new Skrillex sound on some of recent singles that released prior to the album. There was “Rumble” with Fred again.. and Flowdan and, recently, the Nai Barghouti-assisted “Xena.”

Those singles are only the tip of the ice berg when it comes artists sampled for Quest for Fire. On the multiple genre encompassing cast list are also Aluna, Eli Keszler, Pete Wentz, Starrah, Swae Lee, Noisia and 100 gecs’ Dylan Brady. It doesn't end there, as Missy Elliott, Mr. Oizo, Porter Robinson and Bibi Bourelly also appear on the album.

To help hype up the release, Skrillex joined Fred again.. and Four Tet for a series of surprise, pop-up shows in NYC.
